Novak Djokovic became the first player to claim five Masters title in one season with a 6-2 3-6 6-4 victory over Mardy Fish in the Montreal final Sunday.
The world number one continued his incredible run of success in 2011 which has seen him claim nine titles, including grand slam triumphs at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. His only defeat came against Roger Federer in the semifinals of the French Open and he will head to the U.S. Open later this month as a warm favorite.
Djokovic took his career record to 7-0 against American Fish, who was losing for the fourth time in a Masters 1000 final. The pair shared the first four games until Serbia's Djokovic conjured up a run of four straight games to take command. But Fish bravely rallied to claim the second set to force the decider which Djokovic won with a single break of service as he wrapped up victory in two hours 23 minutes.
"I'm not getting tired of this (victories), it was a pleasure playing against Mardy. My team and I have done it again," said Djokovic in his on-court interview. "We played a great match, I had a few lucky points in the third set to break."

He is now 53-1 for the year.
